How much vacuum should a stock LS1 pull?

I don't know for sure, but with to-days pollution engines and lot's of valve overlap, some engines will never see 18 in.hg. at the idle.

And the only way you'd get 21 inches is going down hill at 50 mph in gear ......

I had a boost/vacuum gauge in my '98 and I had it where it would read vacuum, and I was constantly showing around the 18 mark.

This thread made me curious about the vacuum on my 01, so I plugged my vacuum gauge into the hose that goes onto the brake booster check valve/elbow and was very surprised to see a steady, high reading of 18.5 in. hg. I learn something new everyday!!
