Problems lowering... HELP!
It really does sound like you have tried everything.
However, I have had the same problem and was able to get vice grips on the metal part of the bushing and turn it.
Either you need a thinner pair or a longer pair to get in there. See if a friend has something that will work.
Or you might have to drop the lower control arm (not difficult) to get to the bushing.

You drop the lower a arm and get to the bushing/bolt from underneath. I had the same problem as you the first time I lowered mine so your not alone. After fighting the first side, I went inside and read a little more and noticed how you had to put the jack under the spring to relieve tension and them I could actually turn it by hand. Hope this helps.
