OK, this is getting almost comical.. my warranty ran out 20 days ago. I now have bucking/preignition/SOMETHING going on which I am going to do plugs, wires, fuel filter, Red Line fuel System cleaner to try and fix. NOW that it's 95deg out my ac decides it will stay on my feet and not change locations or go into recirc mode,(but air is cold). This is a y2k with 24,000 miles and standard A/c not the electronic. Is this Vacuum related and if so are all these issues related some how??? Any ideas are appreciated..
The only thing that has been done recently is replacing the leaky GM battery.... Are there vacuum hoses under the battery????
Pull your battery and the box it sits in. There is a vacuum line in the wire loom that goes to your A/C, it looks like a black wire. There is another hose that goes up to your secondary air system. If your battery leaked it a good idea to check all the components under the tray PCM, Tach module etc. A good washing with baking soda is recommended. Good luck.
That would definately explain the A/C issue... The more I think about it, I think they are probably independent issues.....
They are more than likely related issues, if the vacuum lines have been destroyed by the battery acid, your engine is getting unmetered air, hence the bucking specially at low RPM.

Get under that battery tray ASAP! There are all sorts of wiring harnesses, a vacuum tube and the computer. The quicker you get that acid off, the less likely you will run into additional problems!!!

DO IT TODAY> take off the front passenger wheel, open the access panel on the left side........ get baking soda (lots) and a good light, begin to romove the PCM and bracket assembly... take the battery out and the battery tray......... you are not going to be happy with what you find. Keep us posted, some of us have been in the same situation...
as an fyi, when the bracket for the pcm is removed.. the pcm pulls out on a slide type assembly, do not pull it out "cockeyed" or you will snap one of the PCM bracket ears off... dont ask me how I know.
Thanks all, I pulled the new battery and it also was leaking , I found the deteriorated vaccum line, patched it, cleaned everytihng up with baking soda and water, put it back together and guess what.... the A/C now works, but I still have the hesitation, preignition, something funky going on. For those with experience, is there more than the one small vaccuum line under there?
I wish it was throwing codes... that would make my life a lot easier. The only codes my car has thrown recently are door control module and radio codes. It used to throw O2 codes at the track, but it hasn't done that in over a year...
