I'm having an annoying problem with my driverside headlight motor. After I changed my bulbs two days ago the light goes up fine but when it goes down the motor continues running for about 3 second after it is closed. I took apart the assembly and there seems to be nothing wrong. The motor on drivers side seems a tiny bit looser then the passenger side but I really dont think that is the problem.
Does anyone have any idea or experience with this problem? My car is still under warrenty but I'd rather fix it myself as long as the motor isnt shot. All advice is appreciated

Hey whats up Villain- not sure if its related but today I just spent 2 hours hooking up an HID conversion kit. After all is hooke dup and working, I go to shutdown the lites and the lites wont go down all the way. and i can hear the motor working overtime. I checked every single spot for a jam and nothing. I even took out all the wires of the HID unit to see if its being pinched somehow. nada!!
so i put back the silverstars and the lites go down normally. I give up!
Thanks for the info guys,,But is the gear stripped even if the the lights go up perfectly fine?
Sempi: What is that site you linked me to? its all Fiero info??????
Ike: I dont think its related to my Lights, they went up and down fine the first couple of times I tried it out but now its working overtime only when they close. Godd luck with your HIDs though
Yes, it's a stripped gear, and Rodney Dickman's brass gears should fix this and prevent it from happening ever again. Typically, yes, the lights will go up just fine, but when they go down, you'll hear grinding noises for a few seconds.
I had a headlight motor replaced under warranty when this happened to me, and I'm sorry, I did, instead of just replacing the gears. The new motor raises the headlight much faster than the original motor, so the headlights go up at different rates. Just a ****ling annoyance, but you know...it just bugs me.
I did eventually replace the gears, though, because the other motor started grinding, too, and I was out of warranty, by then.

Go to the Rodney Dickman site Electrical tab and scroll down to see other cars for the C5 Headlight gear fix.
