So today I finally take the vette out after she's been couped up in the garage the last few weeks and noticed that my HUD was out. So is there a fuse that I need to check?

The only thing that I can think of is something might have come loose after my shift light got installed. Is there a connection between the gauge cluster and the HUD that could cause this?

Thanks in advance

Rob

I took a quick look in the service manual and didn't find a dedicated fuse for the HUD. The only thing that I can suggest is to check the obvious. There's a HUD brightness slider on the left side of the instrument panel. Make sure the HUD brightness is not all the way off, that turns your HUD off.

I checked the switch, it appears to be where it should

yes, there is a harness from the HUD projector that plugs into the top of the cluster.
retrace your steps when you installed the shift light, you may find the problem.

The projector plugs directly into the top/back side of the instrument cluster. If there is a fuse for it, thats new to me. Heres what I would do:
1. Make sure its turned on and brightness up.
2. Reach up and hit it.
3. Take off your dash to check if it is plugged in.
4. If it is pluged in, try to uplug it and reseat the connection.
5. Run the wires to ensure none are pulled out of the socket.
6. Grab a volt meter to check for power.
7. Still dont work, buy a new projector. They run about 110.$.

Hope this gets you somewhere.

The best I remember if the cable from the switch to the cluster is off the HUD will be dimmed to nothing. Does your dash light dimmer control work? It goes through the same cable as the HUD controls. The problem could be the switch, cluster, or projector. If it's all plugged up my guess would be the projector. A lot in there to go wrong. But one other thing to check. Try you up and down control while looking down through the windshield and see if the mirror moves. If the mirrors move then your cables are probably OK.

Good luck
