It has been well over a decade since I had an automatic, but with my new C5 I have one. I'm presently surprised how well it works in the C5. But, now I'm playing around and learning how to drive the C5 and I'm getting to understand the issues of when the automatic will actually shift. So, a Transgo shift kit sounds interesting. However, a couple of questions for those that have one:
Once installed, do you have to shift all the time? Or is there a mode of operation that will do all the shifting like it does now?
How necessary is it to get a mini-tune after the install? Can it be put off for a while or should it be done as soon as possible?
Not sure if this is the best route for me, but it would be nice to have faster shifts and more control over shifting when I desire it.
No you dont have to shift it all the time. It still works like normal.
Not really necessary to do a tune after.
It will definatly firm up your shifts. I installed one one a customers 2000C5 about 2 years ago. He loves it. And he never had a tune done after it. He has about 30K miles on the install now. No problems..
WHAT's the Importance of this kit, can anyone share their knowledge? If firming your shifting is all that you want, it can be achieved by just getting a Tune and your tuner can firm up your shift points and make the shifts quicker by just programming the PCM. So, and particular reason for transgo kit ???? I checked with Andy from A&A, and THIS is what he told me.......(what I just wrote)......
