Pegged Oil Pressure
I have had my 98 for a couple of months. I have put two sending units in it. The first one lasted 10 min. The second on lasted 2 weeks. It is apparent after reading the forums that this is a common problem. My questions is this. Is there some type of fix for this problem? Any help would be appriciated.

Check w/ your Chevy dealer parts dept to ensure you're using the latest part #.

Oh yeah, this seems to be common, I have looked all over and have decided to leave it for a little while, it's been bad for a month now and I have no immediate plans to fix it.

There should be more than enough info on these threads for you. 84zz4vette has had a bad sensor for 6 or 7 months now and it's still broken. Not an emergency but you will deffinately save $$ if you do it yourself.

Order the PS308, made by Standard Motor Products. Mine was a one time replacement over a year ago and as our Aussie friends say "No worries". BTW, be sure to properly torque the new unit into place. Do not go "Gorilla" on the tightening, and preferably use a six sided deep- well socket of the correct size. Seems like I remember it being a 22mm.

BTW, when you download their online parts catalog, click on Chevrolet, then year, then model and the click on "Electrical-Switch & Relay" folder on the menu. Some of the ongoing issues that some people have been having with the Delco units was one of the main reasons I decided to go with Standard. Standard has been around for a very long time in the parts business.

Does this sender use its own gauge or or does it connect into existing wiring and use the stock dash gauge?

I saw that wording on their listing too and knew what it meant. Many years ago I used to work in the aftermarket parts business and got very used to many of the more common abbreviations and descriptions that various manufacturers used in their catalogs, etc. The "w/gauge" is referring to the car that you're looking up parts for. In this case "Chevrolet, 19XX (or 20XX) year, and model (in this case "Corvette"). The folks that put catalogs together many times don't know that a particular vehicle (car,truck, etc) only has a gauge like we do. Some listings on some vehicles may include sending units for vehicles with an "idiot light" as well a gauge. Don't forget, RockAuto's catalog covers a whole slew of other vehicle too. HTH

Sorry to hear it. Since I have not experienced this problem after having installed the PS308 from RockAuto, is the main reason I'm sharing this fact with everyone.BTW, I ran with my old sender leaking for a few months before changing and when I finally did I noticed the oil seepage was trying to run down over onto my bellhousing. Nothing ever got inside and the clutch assembly stayed dry, but I figured it was just a matter of time. It's been my experience that leaks of any sort only stay the same or get worse over time (usually worse). HTH

i own a 98 99 & 2000 C5 - everyone of them pegs the oil pressure gauge and always has...... i finally gave up and just ignore it. I make sure and change and check oil all the time...........
