Default Optimum Coolant Temp for Best Power

At what coolant temperature do the LS1-LS6 engines produce the most power? I know that older style Iron block engines with aluminum intakes make peak power at 150F or lower. But I have heard that aluminum block engines make best power at somewhat higher temperatures.

Anyone have any track or dyno experience to share on this topic??

I once saw evil-twin say the "sweet spot" was designed to be around 195* on this engine. He just helped design the thing though, not sure how much he knows

edit: that's on a stock motor/tune..

178-185 is seems to be the best.

I thought Bills contribution was fasteners, latches, and and door handles?

Though I'd believe him on other aspects of the car - way above anyone else !!!

I would say 175-185 though, the 195 was set to achive hp and boiling point to remove water and other bad things. So it depens on what your looking for. Lower temp give better hp, but do not remove the water and other things. So you have to change oil more often.
Oh well!

Ah, finally a conformation as to his involvement at GM. Thank you!

180~185 degrees is the general consensus I believe..
