Save your money and keep the stock 97-00 MAF. Until you really start increasing the power, there is no advantage to a larger MAF.
completely true.

It's not like in the olden days - where there was one super-restrictive part that was holding the stock motor back. And to unleash all this trapped power, all one needed do was to replace just this one restrictive part

GM did a great job on the LS1 - it's a well balanced system. No parts undersized (though none oversized either). Even in the exhaust, the stock manifolds flow very well. And that's why the C5 doesn't see the same gains from header installations ... that cars 20 years ago would see a tremendous HP gain with headers.

Heck; Ive read accounts where someone here installed long tube headers, X pipe, and high flow cats, and only got 15 or 18 rwhp increase (this was on a totally stock C5).

Someone once said the earlier LS1 MAF's were good up to 450hp. And that the newer larger MAFs were good to 550hp.

It would be nice; but there's no single magic replacement part to get massive HP gains out of a stock C5. I think that's why you see so many owners doing 2 to 3 engine mods all at the same time. If the "system" is already well-balanced, you need to upgrade the entire system (well... I mean - not just one part) to see worthy improvement.

Is there any benifit in getting the newer MAF sensor and buy the parts listed as 2001 and up ?? Will my 99 throttle body mate up to a 03 intake ??

Any help would be appreciated so I don't start buying mismatched parts... Thanks.
Stay with your present meter, no benefit for you going to the 85mm. Your TB will bolt right up to the LS6 intake.
