I am expriencing some sounds coming from the drive train when I first load the system from a stop and start, ie from a stop light. If you start easy, no noise, but if you load the drive train...with a little gas a sound comes from the gear shift that sounds like a bad bearning...... We have checked the clutch, flywheel, torque tube, and have replaced the tube assy. it showed wear where the pad is on the shaft. After you are in motion there is no sound no matter how much torque you apply. The car is a 03 ZO6................Thanks, Wayne
If you are familiar w/ the typical "grinding / rock crusher / marbles in a can" sound that everyone w/ a M6 is familiar with, and you don't think this is it, then maybe record a small sound clip and post it.. We can at least tell you whether it's the "usual" noise or not.

I have a similar issue when loading mine from a start. Kind of a pop/metal creak sound, which is more noticable in reverse, but it's coming from the rear. Last time i had it i was told the rear cradle was not torqued to spec? It was quiet for a while, but now it's started again, and i don't know enough about how the rear is all mounted to check it out myself.
Does this sound silimar? Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks for the reply. No thats not what I mean. This sounds like a bearing or a throw out bearing ...the sound comes from the shifter or seems to.........when we replaced the torque tube assy., it was worn. This sound is not at idle , but when you move the car from a stop. When you load the drive train.....if you ease out very easy there is no sound, but if you load the clutch with 1500rpm or so or put a load from a stop it sounds like a bearing or something is rubing.....it just last a few seconds....................Wayne
I am leaving town for a few days.....will be back on Thr. Maybe someone will have an answer by then. This sounds like a bad throw out bearing, or a bad input shaft bearing..............not sure if that is possible with this system................Wayne

I have the same issue with my 01. Determined that it was the pilot bearing causing harmonics....I decided to deal with it when it's time to replace the clutch again since I usually do not release the clutch at 1500....
I think I have this too. Makes almost a "buzzing" vibration that you can feel through the shifter. If you ride the clucth it usually does this. But if you almost just pop the clutch, it doesnt. Is this the pilot bearing? Car drives and shifts perfectly. I dont mind this as long as it doesnt get worse or cause something to eventually fail. This started happening about 2000 miles after clutch install.
