Has anyone else experience this happening. I just started to notice it the other day. Luckily I have the Window Valet so I can reach in and unlock the door, but it really is annoying.
I guess I have to bring it back to the dealer and have them fix it

This seems to be a common problem with the door locking mechanism. My passenger door will does this speratically. Sometime it takes me hitting the unlock button a few times on both the Key Fob or buttons on the inside of the car. Believe it or not I have heard that if you smack the door panel below the buttons it may bang it into working again. How do I know this, because I do it about once a season! Keep on !

Mine hasn't worked since i bought my car. I plan on puling it out and getting it rebuilt one of these days...it's over a 100 bucks for a used unit i don't even want to imagine what it is from the dealership.
I took the panel off once just to check and see what was going on, and there was water where the plug plugs into the solenoid. Soo, i get the feeling water is shorting something out.

If it's still under warranty, you might want to go that way. Mine does the same thing but on the drivers side. It could possibly be a bad module, or a loose connection, or the stars may be lined up in the wrong order in the galaxy.

Tom @ Defelice is pretty good with these issues. Assuming that GM cannot connect my MODs to the door lock it should be covered.
Now if they don't connect my MODS to my clutch failure then I have something.....
BTW - I should be back at ECS for the new clutch very soon. Chris is waiting for a new stock to come in then we will schedule a day. I will let you know when I plan to be down there...
Your door module is bad. I had it happen to my passenger side and driver’s side. Warranty will cover it. If you don’t have warranty it’s a $400 fix. The fist time it happened to me my factory warranty covered it. The second time warranty direct covered it.

Unfortunately the DBCM modules do go bad; I replaced mine myself. Bought the module from Fred Beans for $225.00, pulled the door panel off, plug and play. Hardest part of the repair is getting the door panel off, for sure. No need to take it to a dealer unless you have a warranty.
Funny thing is, the previous owner of my car did take it in for this problem, but those geniuses replaced the actuator, which wasn't the real issue. Took a non-GM certified mechanic (a.k.a. Me) to figure it out!

thanks guys. I have a warranty still so I will bring it in. Luckily I am one of the few that has a good GM Tech...

I just got mine fixed last week. Both door modules (must be replaced in pairs. new directive from GM) 2003 under warranty.
Hi - I would suggest replacing both the module and the lock actuator. Comparing the old vs the new, the old had half the resistance of the new. Only 10 ohms if I recall. SO, either they have found a way to re-engineer the actuator, or they get some shorted coils (at least mine did). Either way, the increased resistance should make the cheap relays GM uses last longer. YMMV
