Default C5 headlight growl

Is there an adjustment to stop the "growl" when the lights retract. A while back someone said the gear had to be changed. Any ideas.

You have to be kidding me. Your actually considering modifying your headlights to eliminate a noise they make for .25 of a second when they go down?

Dude - thats nuts!

Well, since the "growl" means the gears are stripping, and the headlight will soon stop functioning, YEAH!!!! I took mine to the dealer, showed them this, and they replaced the motor under warannty, with no questions

I lubed my headlight hinges with silicone lube and the growling went away. Haven't had any problems for the last year.

The "growl" last about 7-8 seconds after the lights are down completely.

Yes, that's the gears. Rodney Dickman's brass gears are great, I haven't heard or read anything negative about them.

I have them in my headlight assemblies, installed them when I put in my high-wattage headlight kit and glass lenses.

Kinda hard to believe that such a typical problem isn't addressed with a better solution that replacing the whole motor actuator, which just breaks gears again after a few years. Oh yeah, it's The General we're dealing with here.
