Default More problems!!!

Whenever I play the radio, or CD player, I get a periodic thump coming from somewhere within the car. It sounds like when you hit something in the road and it hits the bottom of the car. But I hit nothing on the road when this problem happens. Each thump becomes more pronounced until I can feel it in the doors' armrest. I finally shut the radio or CD off, and no more thumps, ever...until I turn on the radio again. What gives with this?

ALSO, my temperature adjustment is now messed up, with me being able to only adjust the temp. only one degree, period. I then have to turn everything off and wait, turn it all back on and then I can adjust it one more degree, period. This problem seemed to show up just after the latest, and largest thumping sound.

I just got my ignition switch replaced, which was causing other electrical problems, and everything was fine, including the climate control. The thumping sound I had noticed a few times before the ignition switch had gone haywire the first time. Could there be any connection between the two? What is causing this thumping sound? And why the problem only when the radio is on? Could it be the result of a grounding problem with the radio, or speakers?

This is really annoying and I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
Mike

In all my years on this forum, I've never heard of those 2 problems.

All I can think of with the thump noise is the sub's in the door either picking up noise or turning on/off erratically. My suggestion would be to take the door panels off and unplug the sub's. Then ride around and listen. Maybe even try one door at a time to better isolate. It's possible the sub amp (located in the door) is going bad. Each sub has it's own amp.

The climate control modules seem to have frequent failures. You may need to just replace it. Check the for sale section or maybe get a hold of "karshop", he runs a Vette salvage place in FL. For a new one, I would turn to our supporting dealers for best prices.

Thanks lotzahp. I'll take a look in the door and try unhooking the sub. Hope it works.

As for the radio, it just seems kinda strange that it worked fine until the thumping started.

Could be a possible bad speaker somewhere. Set the radio speakers to the front, listen for the noise. Set the speakers to the rear, listen for the thump.

Maybe you can isolate it down that way. You could have a loose connection.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will give all these ideas a try. And tomorrow, if I done find the solution on my own, I will take it in to my mechanic and let him see if he can figure it out. Will keep you posted.

I would also check for DTC codes also. Their are Radio codes, BCM codes, Left and Right remote door control module, etc... It might take you in the right direction.

Good luck!

They kept the car the entire 4th weekend. I will go in and get some news later today. Keeping my fingers crossed.
