Drive shaft?
Can anyone tell me the est. cost of replacing the drive shaft and the barrings involved inside? My car is whinning in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I am being told this what it is. They said it is the support _______?

Just my $.02. If it was the torque tube or an axle shaft I would think you would have a vibration or a clicking sound. If the whinning varys with engine RPM at all times even when parked or in drive when stopped I would say yes it is the support bearing in the torque tube. If it whines only when moving and varys with vehicle speed I would say its rear end, trans or wheel bearing. But I would go with the rear first as this is a very common problem with our rear ends.Welcome to the corvette forum!

Thanks. It doesn't make the sound in 4th. The shop said it was a "support assembly?" said it was the barings and that they could not be changed out. the entire system would have to be relaced?
