Performance Fuel injectors.... Will they really increase hp?
I've read that upgrading fuel injectors from factory to performance will pay dividends in hp. Anyone know (from experience) whether its worth it or not? How much hp gain can you expect and at what cost to have installed? BTW, I've got a H/C package installed, performance headers, intake, Random Tech cats..... etc. etc. I'm just looking to eek out another 15-20 hp somehow.
If/when you have the need for them, like when your stock ones are over 95% duty cycle at WOT, the generally accepted formula is 1hp per 1/2# of injector.

Thanks in advance for your inputs!!
Happy 4th everyone!
Injectors won't get you there. Ask your tuner if you need bigger injectors, but I doubt you have a problem or they would have told you when you got it tuned. If you tuned it yourself or had it done, then your injector duty cycle shouldn't go over 80%. If it does then upgrade, but you won't pick up any HP unless your motor was starving for fuel.
You didn't specify what type of intake you have. Normally H/C guys work on upgrading their intake to an LSX with an LS2 throttle body and a bigger MAF to squeak out those extra ponies. In the past people believed that doing these intake upgrades are worthless on a stock cube motor, but dyno's and track times has proved that theory wrong. When I'm itching to get an extra 15-20rwhp like you, I'm going to do these upgrades to my car. Good luck!
