I was just thinking about this. I hate the seats in my C5. They wear easily and provide very little support. And nice aftermarket seats are around $3000 for the pair.
I used to own an S2000 and it comes with really nice Recaros factory. And its a pretty thin car so there is actually a decent chance they might fit in a C5. Fabricating custom rails shouldnt be too difficult for someone that has experience with that kind of thing.
One of my good friends has an S2000. I might put his seats on my car just to see if the fit in there without rubbing against the door or seat belt area.
Am I missing something here? The wife's S2K seats are not really anymore comfortable than my '01 C5 Coupe seats. Her S2K seats are smaller and don't have the electric adjustable lumbar support, like mine.
The S2000 seat is an actual sports car seat with some side and thigh support.
The C5 seat might as well be in a Malibu IMO.
Whats worse is that the z06 seats have even less support than the regular C5 sport seats although the Z06 is supposed to be the higher performance model.
I had an s2000 with 40k miles and the seats looked brand new. On my C5, the seats look like dog doodoo after the same mileage.

I have ridden in a C5 Z06 only a few times, so maybe like you say the Z06 seats have less support than the C5 Coupe/Verts. BTW, I will agree my wife's S2K side bolsters are much firmer than on my C5 Coupe. My wife thinks that bigger people [over 6'] would be less comfortable in an S2K than in a C5. We are both 5'7", so the S2K is fine. You may also find the S2K seats more comfortable [firmer support] than in a C5 Z06 d/t the seats being smaller. I must admit that at less than 9K miles the drivers side bolster had some wear. I took my C5 to an appropriate shop to have the seats redone in two-tone black/light oak.
BTW, I love my wife's S2K. For the price [inexpensive, IMHO], the S2K is my second favorite Sports Car. Please, keep us posted if in fact you end up putting a set of S2K seats in your Z06.
