Default Side exhaust?

Just got back from the ALMS in Lime rock. LOVED those cars. The C5R and C6R's sounded amazing. I also loved the side exhaust on the cars.

Has anyone done this on their cars?

What did it take?

If I just ran it straight from the end of my X-pipe to the side via the NASCAR like tips (long thin so they don't scrape) would it be way too loud? I don't drive my car that much and the extra noise (so long as it isn't deafening) wouldn't be a problem.

There's not even close to enough clearance to flatten that exhaust pipe enough to both not scrape and not create a huge amount of backpressure by restricting the exhaust that much.

Now since I've seen the rear mount twin turbos of the STS kit (they put them where the mufflers are now) in the FI section I've thought about routing exhaust pipes through the rocker panels for a side exhaust.

Couple problems I see....with the STS kit and with this concept even more (with the exhaust having more heat since it's direct from the motor instead of from the rear mount turbos (that distance providing some cooling effect)) I just don't see how all that heat will be good routed to an enclosed area along the car.

Second I don't think one could fit useful/working headers (not even shorties) along with cats and make that quick turn out from the motor to be routed along and inside the rockers.

I'd love to be proven wrong though as side exhaust is pretty trick.
