This is the DEAL! Take it fron EXPIERENCE!

There are TWO FOB procedures that are used to get a FOB/S working again. The first is PROGRAMING!!

When you program your FOB's (you can program up to 3), you must have all of the fobs in the car and ready to re-program. (you already have the procedure, its in the "OWNERS MANUAL" . Once the FOBs are programed, you shpuld be good to go!

If for some reason, you disconnect your car battery or for some reason your fobs dont work, you can attempt to "RE-SYNC" the fobs. When you resync, the BCM already trust the transmit link between the FOB's, RFA module and the BCM. All it needs to do is reastablish the sequential code that needs to be maintained. If re-Sync fails, reprogram. If you keep needing to re-sync, I have found (through anguish) that you need to check the DTC Codes that might be present in the DIC. The RFA module and the BCM Module are DIC Monitored and if there is a problem, it will normaly inform you.

One of my problems required CONSTANT re-syncing

If I would have checked the DTC codes set in the DIC (and under stood what they were telling me) I would have a LOT better off and a lot of dollars richer! I ended up buying 3 (NEW) FOBS off E-Bay (for a good price, I MUST admit) and found out that I had DTC codes that were causing the issue.

My DIC had NUMEROUS "U"-1000 codes indicating that my 1998 OEM Battery in 2003 was TOAST! Everytime, I started the car, the battery voltage would peg LOW because the starter is drawing 200+ amps and the OLD battery can only pump out 9 volts when the starter is running.

Check your codes and see if you have "U" 1000 series codes on numerous modules. BCM, PCM, RFA, and EBTCM!!

Here is a cool link that explains the DTC Code checking process:

This is the absolute best C5 Code web site!!!

http://www.corvettedoctor.com/Codes_Page.htm

If you have the U codes, get your battery checked out and see if it has reserve voltage.

There are instances that other forum members report where nothing that I mentioned seemed to work.

We found out that some FOB's just fail and need to be replaced. The 97-2000 fobs are expensive.

2001-2004 fobs are reasonable in price and if you dont have three, I recommend you get a NEW third FOB. (97-2000 FOB's are EXPENSIVE and if you can find one for a reasonable price on E Bay, GET IT!!!!!!!

If you have questions, Please Let me Know.I will try to help!
