Just curious on what the top end is on a 99 A4 with 3.15 gears and what the rpms are at that speed.. I've never seen a road Test for an a4. I know the Mn6 has a 174 mph top speed

I have never seen an official test either. I know for sure though it would be a wind limited top speed, not limited by your rpm's. I think low 170's (for a coupe) would be the neighborhood we would be in. I would also be interested in someone with personal experience with this.

Top speed for an A4 with 3.15 gears is somewhere between 175 and 180mph, some good running cars a bit faster.

I am interested in that answer too. The auto eats some horsepower, and it depends on the final drive. I have the A4 with the 2.73 axle, and think it may be slightly faster at the top end.

Stock engined 2.73 will be slightly slower on the top end vs 3.15 due to the car not having enough power to push through to high speeds at that gear ratio. You can hit 160 in 3rd with the 2.73's fairly quickly, but in 4th gear the speed climbs very, very slowly. If you had enough power the 2.73 could hit around 220 at the top of 4th

Stock 3.15 with no engine modes, coupe car, should hit 172 give or take before not having enough power to push through, but even this will take a good long stretch of road

Great, good info. Nothing better than a member who has done it. Be careful out there. By the way I agree with the above post that the 2.73 would be a little slower, again I am just guessing though.

If you read my post it says, just curious. There is no way I would try it. There is really no safe place to do this anyway. 20 years ago I may have tried something stupid like this... kinda scarry when you think about it now

A4 with 3.15 gears and minor performance mods (Blackwing air filter, B&B Bullet, Predator tune). 184 mph top speed measured by GPS and tested more than once (I'm from Germany too and it's not really safe but at least legal to drive that fast)
