Default Accessory Bracket Conversions

I'm not sure if this would be in the right place for this question, but I thought I would give it a shot. I'm in the process of putting an LS1 into my '99 S-10 Zr2 4x4 and had a few questions about the LS1 motor. I got the motor out of a '99 Trans am. It's my understanding that I need to take all of the accessories and brackets off and put the corvette accessories and brackets on. My main question is about the AC compressor. I got an AC compressor off of ebay from a 2002 vette and it has a different part number then from a '99 vette AC compressor. I was wondering if they would both fit OK in a '99 AC compressor bracket and they just updated the part numbers or if you guys thought they might of changed them over the years. I didn't know if you needed the same year AC compressor as the bracket for them to fit. I thought that everything in the C5 era was the same. Thanks a lot for any info. you guys might have.

Chris

Well, unfortunately I'm not the right on to answer that question. I'm sure someone on here can help you out. Another good place to check out is the LS1 forum. Those folks over there really know their stuff. Good luck with your project. Sounds like you're gonna have a killer truck once you're done.

I went though this as I put a 6.0L motor into my Typhoon back a year or two ago. There are a few places to check around on this stuff.

I don't have a answer for you on the compressor.

BUT... these will be useful for you.

These guys are pretty much the experts on the installation of V8's into S trucks. They were very helpful. Order their book and the book about putting GEN III stuff into anything from GM. The PN for that book is 88959384.

Also my buddy is putting an LS1 into his Typhoon... www.turbols6.com

In keeping the truck AWD I fabbed my own motor mounts and my own oil pan. The setup was trick, but ended up getting an offer for it that I could not refuse... so I parted ways with it.

Come to find out ^^^^ that is my old truck on his site... LOL

There are basically three accessory setups for the GENIII engines. The truck, the F-body and the Corvette setup. There is also the Holden
(GTO) setup but this will not work for you. The only real difference in the accessory setups is how far the accessories are away from the motor, the Corvette accessories are closest to the motor, the truck ones are the furthest away. I hate to be bearer of bad news, but as far as I know the stock compressor will not fit in the stock location. I had to get an aftermarket compressor and bracket from these guys.

Hope this all helps... good luck.
