Default Dynatech Header Install Time

Hi guys...this is my first post on here but I'm very experienced with working on cars. I run my own restoration and custom shop and am looking for a quick question.

I've never installed a set of headers on a C5 but a customer came to me asking if I would install his Dynatech full setup on his 03. Can someone give me an estimate on how long it may take and any snags I should watch out for?

I tried a search but found nothing on the time to install.

Thanks!

Average time for install for a first-timer - 6-8 hours. Here's a detailed how-to of the LGM lt headers which will give you a good idea of what's involved. You should be able to knock it out without a problem.

That's a great tech article. Looks like it's not that difficult of a swap. Probably easier than my thirdgen f-body was. It's not that tight to get in at the manifold bolts is it?

Worst one is the rear driver bolt but it's manageable with a little patience.

I'm not that mechanically inclined, my buddy who is a mechanic did mine and I helped. It is pretty straight forward, if I had more dexterity with tools I could have done it myself. Make sure and double check how you hook the O2 sensors up, everyone warned me about this and I still had them crossed up, caused a bad mis-fire, but we figured it out right away...the instructions are clear on this, it's just one of those things.

Don't be surprised if after you hook up the system the computer throws an 02 code or two,,this is common as the stock O2 sensors don't like the high-flow cats.

with a lift, and since you have experience, it will probably take you about 5 or 6 hours.

Good luck

the lts on the c5 are the easiest header ive ever put on a car. All bolts are easily accesable and it'll give you better spark plug clearance too. make sure to take plugs out or you WILL crack one and have a miss to fix later.

Thanks for the advice on the O2's and plugs guys.

If it throws some O2 codes from the high flow cats will it eventually clear itself out or will sims be necessary? I have an OBDII scanner that can clear codes, but I can't tune with it.

if you get the codes itll likely be a p0153 or po133

im certain about the 153 but the 133 I am not so certain

anyway its insufficient switching of the fronts 02s

it happens cause they are not heated and nwo tih longbues they are farther back on the pipe and as such do not get as hott

if you get the codes your pretty much stuck with them till you fix it

the way ive heard of people fixing it is to get 02 sims for the rear o2s and move the rear o2s up to the front bungs
u need a plug adapted so that you can plug the rear o2s into the fron 02 plugs

the rear o2s are self heated units and this should fix the problem for about 100$

ive never heard of high flo cats messing with the rear o2s
