Default Head and Cam Package

Well, its been a little over a year since I had my Cartek 2X Head and Cam package installed and tuned. And I can honestly say that I'm very pleased with it. I have had no engine issues what so ever. The car is as reliable as before it was modded. I have put on 7k miles including trips to Canada and Ohio with out a glitch. I'm currently making 450+ RWHP and I Drag race the car about twice a month. I have trapped as fast as 124mph in good air (with cats installed) and ET's have been around mid to low 11's. The car is capable of high 10's with good air and traction and more savy driver. Hopefully with the new rims and tires the 10's will be realized soon. The car pulls hard from around 2800 on up past 6500 RPM, has some lope at idle, drives well and still gets decent gas mileage around 25 to 26 hwy. Anyway, if you are looking for a head and cam setup don't forget to check out the 2x package its worth a close look.

That's awesome! Any comments on driveability? Sounds like numbers comparable if not better than a Ford GT (just for comparison purposes--not trying to say our Vettes are better than a Ford GT) in the 1/4 mile (with better gas mileage too)... that's cool!

That's great to hear, happy it's working out for you I'm considering a heads/cam package at some point and don't want to sacrifice driveability or reliability.

I haven't dyno'ed the car in about 9 months since the last mods were done (pully, ported intake etc) so once the guys at Cartek get some time I'll have it dyno'ed and post the chart. The one thing I can honestly say about this package is that I don't worry about driving it any distances. I worry more about a flat tire than an engine problem.

Same here - almost a year and a half, about 5K miles, no regrets, no problems.

You are making 450rwhp with a head and cam package only? What other mods have you done?

Check my signature. Head and Cam, Headers, High Flow Cats, GM Ti exhaust Vararam CAI. Then added later Ported Intake (LS6) and throttle body, underdrive pully. So yes, a few more things than just head and cam. Dyno numbers I have are from before some of the other work. Before I did the intake and underdrive and etc we were around 443 with the 3:42 gears.

I have about 18,000 miles and 2 years on a H/C setup, been to the drags 3 times and it's my dailey driver. Not 1 single issue, not even the slightest driving issue. I still get the regular GM electrical issures...bad turn signals, bad reverse light switch and bad window regulator on Pass. side, bad AC/heater display. none of these has anything to do with H/C cam install..lol. Actually the heads and cam install is the only thing that has not gone bad...LOL.

Here is a picture of the dyno chart.

This dyno run was done before the car had an ASP underdrive pully and ported intake and throttle body. Also, the Cats were installed at this time.

I'll be posting the new dyno sheet shortly. I will post the time slips as soon as I can get them scanned in. For the spec's on the Cam check out Cartek's web site.
