You have a code scanner built right in your PCM!!
Go to this web site and get hot! Post those codes and we will hwlp you get to the bottom of your issues!!!!!!
This is the absolute best C5 Code web site!!!

If you have not read your codes previously, write them down, post them and then clear them! Then monitor the codes to see if any return. Make sure that you post if they are H history or C current.

I appreciate the link.
I looked through the info, unfourtunatly it is all way over my head. The service engine light is back on and here are the new codes:
10PCM P0410 H C Air System
P1571 H ASR Desired tourque
28TCS C1281 H Steering Sensor Uncorrolated Malfunction
80RADIO U1016 H Loss Of Communication With PCM
Any advice on what to do next, is it time to take it to a professional????

10PCM P0410 H C Air System: There are two A.I.R. exhaust check valves that allow air to be injected into the exhaust manifold to help light off the CAT's The diaphrams on the check valves stick and the O2 sensors dont sense the added air that was expected, thus the code.
In this case both check valves indicate that they are not allowing air to pass. Here is the drivers AIR Check Valve:

The passengers valve is "BEHIND" the engine and is a BITCH to get to. Here is the metal air line that connects the air supply fron the pump to the valve.

Here is something that I recommended to another forum member and it seems to have fixed his stickey check valve problem. The BEST part,,,,,,,,,ITS FREE!
Disconnect the rubber hose from the check valve, spray in some WD-40 and blast it thorugh with some compressed air. The WD-40 wont hurt anything and either will the air. The WD-40 will keep the diaphram from sticking to the seat. Even a new check valve will stick after a while! This may become some preventave maintenance for C5.
80RADIO U1016 H Loss Of Communication With PCM. This is a U-1000 series code and happens when the radio looses comms with the rest of the vehicle or the voltage to the radio dropped low. With all of the other U codes that you had, I say either your battery was low on charge or could be low on reserve cranking capacity. Check the state of your battery. How old is it??
28TCS C1281 H Steering Sensor Uncorrolated Malfunction
As for this code, I hate to even open up chapter 5 in the service manual. For the most part it means $$$$$$. There are a few things that you can check. First on the list is the ground for the circuit. If you have a late 98 to 2004 C5 the ground is on Chassis Ground Connector G-101. It is on the drivers side frame rail behind the headlight assy, next to the hood support mounting bracket. You will need to remove it from the stud and completely disassemble the connector to properly clean it.
Here are some pictures:
Screwdriver shows plastic lock the holds the connector toghther. There are two. one on each side.

For the most part, the wire under the connector is the ground for the EBTCM. There are other grounds that are tied together in the connector that you need to be concerned with.
CORRODED CONNECTIONS!

Clean the connector, chassis ground stud and see if that takes care of the issue.

You have a 97 and a REAR MOUNTED EBTCM That just complicates things even more!!
Your Electronic Brake Traction Module (EBTCM), is rear mounted. Back there with all of the water, salt, sand, mud and crud! The grounds live in a very harsh enviorment and tend to get corroded. There are two grounds for your system. The Chassis Ground is G-402. It is on the passengers side frame in the rear wheel well area. It looks like this:

The stud will be rusty and you will need to clean it and soak it with PB Blaster or WD-40. You can se in the photo, mine wrung off and was replaced with a self tapping screw.
The other ground is on the EBTCB Motor.
Here are some shots of the module that is located on the back of the differental:

Here is a shot of the EBTCM Motor ground (which attaches to G-402)

Be very careful if you disassemble the ground. MAKE SURE that you hold the nut that is against the motor with a wrench. Other wise it will rotate and you WILL be buying a new assembly!
