Default Valve Train Noise

Has anyone had any success dampening some of the sewing machine noise you get with a cam and head package. Maybe some dampening material on top of the valve covers? I love the added power but the valve train noise is getting out dated very quickly.

The only problem with that is how would you mount the coil brackets?
Check out your headers by the head. They let a lot of noise out too. Mine sound like somebody is tapping them lightly with a hammer. I wonder if wrapping them would help.

I've got the sewing machine sound at certain rpm's in certain gears. I've never heard it standing outside of my car though. Only inside at low rpm's. Its really not that obnoxious for me though.

I've thought before that header wrap might work. Why don't you try it and let us know???

I have heard that dual v/springs are much quieter because they have combined tension instead of being a stiff single coil. Not sure if this will help.

I've got dual valve springs. I hear the sewing machine noise going on, but, like I said earlier, it's not too obnoxious. I still hear it though at certain rpm's.

I had the same problem and Andy installed Comp Pro Magnum roller rockers that are adjustable-That got rid of 75% of the racket!

May the BOOST be with you!

Roy,
Do you mind me asking how much were they including installation? I have the 921 dual spring setup.

I have also read that the Crane rockers will help a lot as well.
