No way!
If for some reason that cloth gets sucked up inside your engine, you could do some real damage.
The blackwings do not come with extra couplers. I used the factory coupler on mine.

I agree 100% ! I also used stock rubber coupler to mount Blackwing to MAF...do you still have yours? cloth may also cause false readings from MAF causing computer to compensate for difference in airflow...in my opinion ...get rid of cloth...soon

when it changes from "green" to "orange" means it's time to clean/wash/re-oil filter....off the car, filter has to dry completely before re applying oil and re-installing in car

There should have been a rubber coupler between your original air cleaner and MAF, this is the coupler you use where you have the cloth installed

He'll need a step-down adapter, since Blackwings come ready to mount to 2001+. MY below that, need an adapter / reducer.

And please don't drive the car like that until it's fixed!

posted a reply to you in the general section, but idle issues and such is probably from your MAF, and like other said...Get rid of the cloth...NOT good! You need to clean the tiny wires on the MAF with alcohol and q tips, being very gentle and very careful NOt to break those tiny sensor wires. This WILL make a big difference in throttle response and help any idel issues hopefully you are having...trust me it will help and should be regular maintenance you do as well as when the sensor wires get junked up or dirty it affects throttle response and idle...JUST BE CAREFUL! Hope this helps you and let us know.

Many of the vendors here that sell the Blackwing also sell this coupler that you need, check with the vendors on the sidebar on the left of the screen like L.A.P.D etc. most all used to carry them.
