Default Tach Wire Help.

I tapped into my tach wire for my N20 system that I am installing. But now I think I tapped into the wrong white wire. I have a digital multimeter. I don't wanna take the wheel off to get the the computer so I will just test my wire. So does anyone know what kind of readouts I should get with the multimeter (red in the wire and ground the black)? should I try volts? ohms? Thanks

Did you tap into wiring harness behind drivers side knee bolster? that's where I found the white wire, I don't know if it's safe to do this, but I did this on two cars without any problems. With the key inserted and to the "on" position, I used a test light and probed the 3 smaller white wires, one caused a "lamp" light to illuminate on the dash, when I probed the second one, the tach needle "pulsed" up to about 600rpm, indicating I had the correct wire. I was doing this for a "shift light install", both cars have worked well for many miles. Look up member "flyin'bryan" he has a link in his sig. that shows this harness.
