Default AC in 97 C5

HAVE A PROBLEM!, My 97 C5 has been serviced several times in the past year for having a/c issues. The driver side blows hot but passenger side blows cold. I have replaced the compressor, dual climate head unit, lines, senors, etc. etc. But to no avail. I also sometimes experiance a LOUD escaping of gas when I turn the a/c on. Seems feron will last for a couple of months and then the driver side goes hot but pass is cold. Dealership says they cannot find the leak but keep filling it up. They now say that it might be the evaporator!

Anybody else experience this type of problem?? Any information will be appreciated

Sounds like the internal vaccuum-operated doors are not functioning correctly. If one side blows cold and not the other, the A/C system would be fine. Maybe?

Just thinking out loud here....

Default AC problems

I had the problem with the hot air blowing out on one side and cold out of the other. Try disconnecting your battery cable overnight and reconnecting it the next morning. The problem is with one of your control modules and it can sometimes be reset by disconnecting the battery cable. Make sure it is disconnected long enough to loose your radio presets and your power seat memory. When you reconnect the cable the problem should be fixed. If not, you may want to try again. Sometimes you have to do it more than once.

Just step on the brake for about 15 sec after you disconnect the battery. This will drain any residual charge left in the system. This fixed mine.
