In a recent tech tip in Corvette Fever on the LS1 engine performance modifications.
It states "You'll also find another 6-8hp if you install a set of Bosh Platinum Plus4 spark plugs."
Anybody get that kind of result ? It's about time to put in new plugs.
You will NOT gain any HP by switching plugs. A spark is a spark. If your plugs are bad and you put new ones in, you will feel a diference because the old ones are worn or bad.
You may notice that the car starts better or Idles smoother, probably because the old plugs needed more voltage and current to fire. Old plugs will tend to misfire a lot easier under harsh combustion chamber conditions..
Same goes for wires. If your OEM wires are in good condition and the internal resistance is within OEM specs (250 - 750 ohms) changing to better wires will only make your engine pretty and your wallet lighter.
You won't feel a real difference in HP, because that is no way RWHP, so if it really would mean 6-8 hp gain, by the time it gets to the RW's I doubt you could feel much of a difference.....I don't know what else to say, my mechanic says it's more of an engine thing, where the engine runs nicer and knows the difference but unlikely a human will feel any RWHP difference. I don't know that's just my .02 .... sorry far from an expert on spark plugs, I did it because I felt the mods were an improvement over stock...especially the plug wires.
