I attempted to drive my 1997 after it sat up for two weeks and I found the battery stone cold dead. After recharging, I hooked it up and the blower fan came on full blast as soon as the battery was grounded. I started the car and was unable to turn it off. I can control the fan speed through the automatic climate control, but as soon as I turn the system off, the fan blows wide open even if I turn the car off and take out the key.

The battery was probably dead because the fan came on and ran it down. Pull the fuse. I think it's fuse# 49 under the passenger footwell fuse box. Most likely it your Blower motor control processor thats gone out. It could also be a poor connection on the fan motor, bad ground, or a bad fan motor. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I make sure my thermo temp selection is on the lowest setting, 60deg...and the "mode" is set to "upper vent" selection, not on "Auto". I then just click down the fan switch back to it's lowest speed.
I don't think it has anything to do with the battery IMHO.
Good luck.

For the life of me, I will never understand this. Engineers spent years developing a system that can sense where and how much cool (or hot) air to send to keep the driver and passenger comfortable by emmulating the thermostat like in your house.
I just bought my 'significant other' a brand new G35 Coupe, with all the bells and whistles, and 3 days later, what do I see on the split temp zones? Manual setting to 60 degrees, dash vents only and within minutes I'm looking for my Nanook snowsuit. *GEESH* Should have just got her an old 64 t-bird with aftermarket Polar Ice A/C hang on unit.
