I had new wheels put on friday, they vibrate at about 70mph. I took it back to mr. tire (they mounted tires on wheel then car for me for free) and they said that their tire machine only balances up to 55 mph. What major tire shops can i go to that balnces real time. I believe VR tires should be balanced at much higher speeds. I have OEM EMT Runflats (new though). SHouldnt they be balanced at faster speed?
Try Discount Tire if you have them in your area. The one near me has the latest and greatest Hunter balancing equipment which is important to get the best balance for these high performance tires. I also had them do a match balance which optimizes the run out of the tire in relation to the wheel. When they were done, the tech said the tires were balanced for 190 mph.

Sounds like major sloppy work. Tires should be balanced so they don't vibrate at any speed you may reach. As suggested above, Discount Tire usually does a good job.

how much is a typcal 4 wheel balance with the new style machine @ 190mph
there is no such thing as high speed balancing. in the old days, they used a bubble balancer. with the invention of computers, you get a computerized balance. along the way, someone said high speed and it stuck. the hunter machine being talked about is the GSP9700 series balancer. this maching presses a barrel onto the tire while spinning it. this applies about 1400 lbs of pressure to simulate being on the car and road. what this does is finds the hard, or heavy, spot of the tire. then you take the two arms and touch the lips of the wheel. it measures the runout of the wheel. then you do what's called force matching the rim and tire. this brings the road force varation lbs to a minumum with that particular wheel and tire combination. there are three orders of vibration measured when doing this. if you can get the road force variation under 20 lbs, it'l lbe smoother than a babies butt. here's some reading up of it. it's the best thing since sliced bread.
