Default A/C Problem - Revisit

I have the apparent dreaded "cold pass side - warm drivers side" syndrome. Freon checks filled. I have read several posts regarding the doors not opening correctly, but no solution as to what has to happen. Also, where is access to the unit? Dam its hot here!

Are you handy? It sounds to me like your temperature control module is not moving. Had the same problem on the passenger side of my '99. Only blew cold air on the pass. side, no matter where the temperature controls were set.

If it is the temp. control module it's a lot of steps, but not difficult to do.

Basically you remove the arm rest and all other trim pieces and the glove box from the dash and around the steering wheel. Then take the trim pieces off the A-pillars and the defroster vent. After that, remove a few fasteners and take the whole dash pad out.

From there, it's pretty easy to remove the three screws and electrical connector from the temperature control module.

I forget the exact price, but let's say it was $140 for a replacement module through the good guys at Fichnters. That plus about 3 hours of your time and you are all set.

I'm curious to know how much the stealer would charge to do the work.

Good luck.

It cant be any harder than installing gauge bezels! Now that was a labor intensive project. You obviously know where this module is located, can you give me an idea what I am looking for? And...thanks for the help!

I had the same prob dude!! Tried Everything including adding Freon which I did not need... It turned out to be a dirty Condenser and Radiator!!!

The condenser sits in front of the radiator.. so the air hits it first.. But if there is crap on the radiator (BEHIND) the Condenser... The airflow will still be blocked...

Clean the front real good inside the radiator cavity.. Then pull the airbridge and top radiator support.. Then look in between the Radiator and Condensor.. I BET you see a ton of SCHIT in there.. Need to vacuum that out..

Try using one of those vacuum adapters to suck dust out from under a refrigerator..

There are a couple of possibilities. It seems from the service manual that with a Tech2, the bad component can be isolated. In my case, it was the actual driver side air mix door motor that was bum. Don't know how much $ since the dealer did it under extended warranty (don't leave home without one ).
