I have it -- one of my first mods. Much better than stock. There's a lot of threads on this, with pics. You can see my previous posts or do a search for "C6 shifter."
I have it and overall I think it is a good compromise. I do not like the hurst shifter (too stiff) and the stock shifter really sucks! The only problem with the C6 shifter is it really doesn't make the shift feel any smoother. It has a little less travel, the **** is great and it sits lower. Those three things make it well worth the upgrade. I just wish someone made a shifter with a little more positive throw and shorter that wasn't so damn stiff. I would give it a
I love my C6 shifter. See my previous post (C6 shifter) for an improved method of removing the dreaded shift **** key. Also see Patches' detailed shifter installation post. It was invaluable to me.
Fred Beans (CF vendor) has a good price on the C6 shifter, although I was able to negotiate a reasonably good price with my local dealer.
i was thinking the c6 shifter route myself (even though the C5 shifter realy doesnt bother me much). but from recent reports, the redesigned B&M shifter sounds promising taking care of the noise issue.
So is this shifter swap out something I could really do on my own.. I am not a car guru, and I don't do this kind of stuff for a living, but i'm mechanically inclined... I wouldn't mind chaning it out... is the hurst better for a daily driver? or is the c6 the way to go? I want shorter, and smooth, I'm not looking to do any speed shifting for racing, just a little "sportier" shift, kinda like on a smaller Honda... (yes I know thats blasphemy, but If a shift feels better, it feels better, no matter what the make)
I'm no guru either, but with Patches's writeup I was able to do it. Make sure you have the right tools! Just print out the writeup with pics so you have it while you do the install. It might take longer than other people say it took them, but don't worry about it. It's worth the DIY and use the cash you woulda spent on installation for a new set of boots from redline goods.
