Default Mounting Radar Detector - Help!

I just got an Escort 8500-x50 with the suction cup mount. Has anyone tried mounting one on the sun visor with a direct wire or some other mounting position?

I have mine wired thru the rearview mirror power- and the suction cups mounted just under the mirror (so I can see the readout) There is a member here who made the wire for me...but basically it's a two wire connection crimped into an RJ11 (or phone connector). I pulled the power from two wires in the mirror. I have a 97 so my mirror harness is different then the newer C5's but it's a matter of finding the HOT wire. There is a mount you an buy that hooks rigid to your rear view mirror...I am thinking about getting that one to eliminate the suction cups...

I used a spare black phone cord I had along with a couple of pins off a a computer connector to make my own for my V1. I connected it directly through my elctrochromic mirror in the orange (2nd wire in) and black (last wire at opposite end) positions on the mirror connector. This works exactly the same for the Escort. You can buy a pre-made wire from a forum member here.

Do you have the contact info for the member who sells the wire?
Did you use the standard visor clip to mount the detector?
Thanks

I used the suction cups because I like it mounted high but not too close. It can barely be seen from outside unless you are very close and looking for it. Also, for me, it's easy to monitor there. I don't like the position below the mirror.

TeamSpeed is the forum member who sells the cable.
