I recently changed my brakes out for some Eradispeed rotors(2 pc front) and new stock metallic pads from GM and painted my calipers black.
I get one squeal from the left then the noise moves over to the right as I apply pressure to the pedal. I looked and it also has warped the squeal pad up to where it almost touches the wheels. I took one off and applied hi temp anti squeal to the back where the stick on pad used to be, and it seemed to work, but only for a short time. It is very loud and annoying and I can't seem to figure out why it is doing this. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
you said you painted your calipers black? Did you get any paint on the rotors? The paint mixed in with the pad material then heated up can cause a squeal. Did you properly break-in the new pads/rotors? Excessive heat from improper break-in may cause a squeal. Also, if the pads have alot of metallic material(like a racing-type brake pad), that can cause a squeal. I assume whrn you say "squeal pad" you mean the pad anti-squeal shim. If the shim was not properly put in, and has dislodged, it'll squeal. Try this-
take the pads off and sand them down evenly(a sanding block or very flat surface should work). If the edges are beveled(cut at an angle, this is for vibration/squeal reduction),fine. If not, sand off the edges of the pads at an angle, this will help. Then use brake caliper lube such as Sylglide or molylube on the back of the pads and anti-squeal shims where all metal parts contact, and lube the metal hardware the pads go onto the caliper bracket, and the slide pins. Sand down the rotors lightly with a 400 grit paper to get off contaminants (i suggest a criscross patern, will help bedding the pads in) and thoroughly wash the rotors off with brake cleaner. torque the caliper bolts and wheels down properly, and test drive doing about 10 medium stops at about 30-40 mph with a 30 second rest in between.do not keep foot on brake while resting and try not to come to a complete stop while doing the 10 or so stops. Then brake easy and gently within the next 100 city miles, and you should be good to go.
Rotors were not on when painted. Break in was done as required. The anti squeal pads on the back of the actual pad were put on properly, but the car is warping them so that they rise up after so much time. Adhesive was bad or something. I think this may be a problem.

Not sure what good sanding the pads will do, they look fine when I took them off, no dibris or burned areas. The edge is not sanded down, and that will not matter as the sound is not instantly there, only with a specific amount of pressure harder than lite and it goes away with hard braking, though it seems to be getting worse with time.
I have the same problem, i have the eradispeed rotors with new Z06 calipers and pads. sounds like it is coming from my left rear and makes a pretty good squeeling noise. annoying
That is not my problem, I am not easy on them at all. Plus, that does not explain why the stick on anti squeal pads are rising up. Any ideas about that?
