Alirght guys, help me out here I have a question. Ok, about 1 month ago I had taken my 03 z06 into the dealer to have the brakes checked out for squeking(before i knew that this was normal). So after I have the brakes looked at(they said they where fine), I went to the window tinting shop to get a few bubles wiped out because I had my windows tinted a couple days before. So I jump in my z after they finish, I then proceed to start it up and it does nothing. The engine is not turning over whatsoever. So I call the dealership back up and they send 2 mechanics out to fix me up( one being the guy who had worked on my brakes). They eventually come and take a look. They hook some module up to my ecm and say that it showed some error codes. Anyways, they at first thaught that it might be my alternator but my car only has 14k miles on it. They decide its not that and believe that the problem is my battery. So they go to Advanced Auto(since they service department was closed and i couldnt wait until the next day because the dealership is about 1 hour away from where I live) and they buy a battery for me free of charge. They install it and I go to start the car up and the 10 sec message appears. So i remove the key and put the key back in and the car starts right up. Now my question is, is it a Colum Lock Issue that caused my battery to go dead? Or did i just simply have a bad battery? Oh and by the way they did determine that the alternator wasnt the problem because they did some voltage test or something that verified that wasnt it. I have been driving my car for about 2 months now after that and have had no messages or problems. So any suggestions or comments would be appreiciated.
Is the new Battery a Glass mat or lead acid if ,it is a lead acid I would go back and get the Glass mat
Acid in the computer is a big bill and lead acid batteries have been commented on here since the c5 was born.

Optima Red Top (34/78 series) and your good to go on the battery. Had mine for almost two years. Just for good measure I would still install a column lock bypass. Several of the forum vendors have it.
