Default Running Lean?

I've had P0171 & P0174 codes come up 3 times in the last 500 miles, usually after hard runs. The only mods on the car is a Halltech Stinger intake that has been on for a year now. I also noticed a little surging during 2-4 k rpms when cold and not as noticable when warm. Any idea whats going on? Is it really running lean?

If you remove the stock air box and install anything else, even a zip tie mod, you will run leaner. Reason: airflow across the maf is corrupted by the new box (all of them) and actually reads LESS air coming in than before based on my testing and data I've received from others. The box is good as is all the others, but a computer tune is needed and the car will definitely run stronger.

Last I remember, about a 2-3% scaling of the inj would fix things, though I would prefer see the maf rescaled for the box.

427CPE is correct. I, too, was running lean after i installed my Vararam intake (verified via pre and post install scans with HPTuners). I ended up having to rescale my MAF (after VE tuning) accordingly....One other thing to look into is to be sure your intake system has not developed any air leaks upstream of the MAF, as any unmetered air entering the intake will also make you run lean......

I found one of the clamps at the tb very loose and I tightened it thinking that was the problem, however the next time I took the vette out it threw the codes again after jumping on it. Does it have to relearn after getting more air via the leak?

So, is the zip tie mod a unless you get a tune? I just did the mod and ran it pretty hard 3 or 4 times and did not throw a code. Me thinks maybe I should put cover back on.
