On the way home today from work my reduce engine light went on. I could not go over 40 mph. When ideling the engine sounds not very smooth. Whrn i press the gas pedal to the floor I get 2100 rpm only whats up.
Sounds like it must be the TAC module or the TPS sensor.
Mine is on the way, I get the same set of codes, along one that correlates directly to the TAC module.
I'd replace the TPS sensor first, its cheap, $40-50 or so, and if that doesn't work, replace the TAC module.
I paid $207 for my TAC module from Fitchner, just call it an Electronic Throttle Actuator Module, GM changed the name in the parts book.
The TPS sensor will take you 2 minutes to change, you just need some safety hex drives. They are standard hex drives with a small pin hole. Its on the passenger side of the TB and the connector points forward.
The TAC module, from what RoadRebel told me, is in the passenger side fender well. He said its a simple 1 hour job. I'll be doing mine tommorow night when the parts arrive.
Before you do the above fixes try unplugging and replugging the TPS connector. Also try cleaning it with some no residue electronic cleaner. You can get the stuff at an electronics supply house or Radio Shack. Make sure it is non-residue.
Those are the same codes I am getting. I just ordered a new TAC module from GM parts direct for $157.00 (About $100 than dealership price). GM part # 12578953.

Good Luck.
Let me know how it goes. I will need to replace mine next week. How do you get to the TAC module? Is it underneath the battery, or do I need to jack the car up and get to it from underneath the car. Please let me know where the TAC module is and how to get to it. Thanks,
Bobby

Where is the TPS sensor? I should try this too. I have already ordered a new TAC module but I should at least inspect the TPS connector. Thanks,
Bobby
If you replace parts based only on those codes you are just guessing. For each code there is an explanation of what causes the code to be set and usually a full page diagnostic procedure to help you figure out what may be setting the code.
The GM Service Manual is worth the $130 you pay for it.

The TAC module is located in the rear part of the passenger side front wheel well. Jack up and remove the RF tire, then remove about 7 small screws holding the panel in place. The module is attached to the front on the ECM. Easy to remove and replace. Clean up that area while you've got it accessible. The TAC module is located beneath the battery but not accessible from above. I had the same thing happen only one time over a year ago, so I bought a new module but never installed it hoping it would happen again....but it never has. I have it ready in my rear compartment in my coupe with a few simple tools in case I get stranded. I've actually forgotten about it until now. I've got the GM manuals for my '98 coupe, but could never isolate what caused it to happen last year. Mine was $200 from Fichtner's.
Good luck,
