Please help... 2004 C5... Corvette Mike installed new cooler running stat and 3.42 gears. Car is running hotter, (about 200-220). Also Corv Mike has been unable to reprogram the computer for the stat/gear swap. They've tried twice, but say they cannot communicate with the computer.
Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone know where I can go to get a same day, while you wait, reprogram. Thanks, Rick

What device/programing-setup are they using to communicate to your PCM ?
Since yesterday I've made an appt with Superior Auto. I was referred to Shawn, a tuner that has a Z06, and seems to know what he's doing. He had me purchase a Predator and we'll put it on the dyno at Superior. I'm new to all this tuning stuff so I'll be at his mercy, but all should work out well, pray! Thanks to all and anyone else that can give me some tuning tips prior to my appt with Shawn at 3 pm PST would be appreciated.
Rick
Go see Andy at A&A. He did mine after I did the 3.42 in my 2000 A4. The tranny was slamming into 3rd gear after the diff change. He fixed that and adjusted the fans. I am running 160 stat. Andy is the best!
Shawn tuned it yesterday and the temp is still running hotter than I'd like, about 200*. He has the fan on at 195* so basically the fan is always on. I haven't gotten in to the gears yet as I'm trying to find a safe traffic free place to play, but as many know thats tough in LA/OC.
If you have a radiator problem it will run hot not matter what thermostat you install or what temperature you program your fans. Be sure your coolant is full. Check the front of your radiator for anything restricting air flow, leaves, grass, trash bags or anything else. If you find nothing else that will cause the problem, remove your thermostat and put it on the stove in a pan of water with a thermometer and check to be sure it really starts to open as it's claimed temperature. I have seem new ones that were bad out of the box.
