Default 1.8 ratio rockers

I have a 222/224 566/568 12 cam in my 97 would I gain anything by replacing my stock rockers to 1.8 rockers. Would I get more of a thump out of the cam and would it mess up my tuning that LG did for me. Any more Hp out of it.

depends on your heads, but you should see about 5% power gain. tune should be OK. you better have really good valve springs to handle the 0.600" lift.

Check the Cranes, they appear to be the better of the bunch. I am going the opposite as you, I plan on the Crane 1.8's and springs followed by a cam later. I won't go as high on lift as where you are going to end up though.

I run a similar cam with Jesel 1.8"s and .588 lift. Had to grind a bit of clearance in the rocker covers. As previous post, better change the valve springs and titanium keepers. Also high strength push rods.

If dyno numbers are all you are looking for then I'm not so sure that it would make a difference. See this post.http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...642&forum_id=1

I have a lot of experience with higher ratio rockers. First I installed a set of SLP 1.85's on my motor and later replaced them with a set of the Crane 1.80 Quick-Lift roller rockers. The SLP rockers were a bit of a disappointment though I did pick up ~15 rwhp with them. However, when I replace them with the Crane 1.80's (actually 1.82) I picked up another 10 rwhp and 8 rwtq over and above what I'd gained with the SLP versions. Also, peak numbers don't tell you the whole story. I picked up gains across the entire power band with the Cranes and now have more power under the curve than ever before.

gain, yes. maybe a tiny bit of sound change. no, it will not mess up your tuning. now, seeing as you are at .566/.568 lift with 1.7 rockers, your new lift with the 1.8 will be about .605/.607 something to consider will be piston to valve clearance and the springs ability to handle the added lift.

I got a real seat of the pants improvement when I installed my Crane 1.8's!

As stated above this is going to put you at a total lift of just over .600, which means some decent dual valve springs. I highly suggest the CompCam 921's. From all reports, you should not have to modify your valve covers with the Crane's, they are a good choice.

Not an expert, just my $.02.... Good Luck!

I have the SLP 1.85 rockers and Comp 918 springs, very happy with my dyno number but the springs make too much noise! I may swap out the springs to Crane duals.

I did the Crane 1.8s with Crane Duals and feel a definate increase in pull under peak, have not dynoed it. It fattened up the middle rpm pulling torque of my Z which is what I was looking for. No codes, very slight increase in sewing machine noise at idle, fair amount of increase in exhaust tone which is cool.

I run 1.8's just be sure to change the springs use titanium retainers.and dont forget pushrods.Vinci high performance in Florida has an overstock of these kits so you'll probably get a good deal from Roger over there.he also has strong ties to Crane.I picked up near 20hp 20tq with a magcharged z06.I wonder how much valve clearence you have with that cam you run though.I run a stock z06 cam and my pistons have valve reliefs.Lastly,I have about 40,000 miles on the Cranes
