Default help: lowering

when lowering the front of the car, do i turn the wrench and bolt towards the tire (clockwise) i think, or towards the engine (counterclockwise), i think?

in other words, is the bolt supposed to go up or is it supposed to go down?

Toward the engine.
There should be more threads showing when you're done.
Turn it all the way till it stops, then go back a half turn.

I should know :o

I stripped it a few months ago and to this day haven't been able to lower the front!

Any good ideas for turning that stripped bolt?

P.S.- Tired vice grips already... to no avail
