I'm thinking no if the 2001 is for the ls6 intake, etc. You would need MAF translator and the ls6 throttle body for it to work. Hopefully someone else will chime in and explain in more detail.
Yes, it will work but you will have to make a few changes. You will need an air cleaner and air bridge that will work with the larger MAF. You will also need a wiring harness adapter, available from Pace Performance, to adapt your present IAT/MAF harness to the newer 5-pin connecter.
By far the biggest difference you will have to overcome is that the MAF tables are unique for each of the three MAFs available. ’01-up screened MAF, ’02-up de-screened MAF and ’97-’00 MAF. You can get a newer style MAF with the old calibration from Pace Performance or have the MAF tables in your PCM changed to the new calibration (probably better) with LS1-Edit
I installed an 85mm MAF calibrated for the LS1 from Pace performance a few months back on my 97. The kit from Pace comes with everything you need to install it.
I did need to dremel the opening on my air bridge for the larger MAF to fit correctly but thats it. The TB and intake manifold have nothing to do with it.
I would definitly recommend doing this mod, IMHO the newer MAF is much better. Good luck
