Pinging and misfire
2001 Vette LS1 with Denso Iridium plugs, Donaldson Cold Airbox and filter, Bassani Exhaust system, OEM exhaust up to the x-pipe, 18,000 miles.
I have pinging under WOT above 3500 rpm when the outside temp is 85 degrees or higher. Also, I am encountering misfiring under WOT when the engine is hot. Engine starts and idles fine.
I plan on replacing the plugs with Bosch Platinum 4+ as the first step. Would this engine be running too lean? If so, where is there a Corvette Tuner in the 06784 or Greater Danbury, CT area? The dealer most likely will not be able to make any mods to the software.
I have noticed that other people have experienced this phenomenon and there is no real answer to this. Any assistance is very much appreciated.

I live in the local area and don’t know of any tuners around. I used ECS in NJ, Chris is great at what he does. I don’t think your problem is a tune. I bet you have a defective knock sensor. Call one of the dealers, and ask they may point you in the right direction.
