I keep hear about these thigs going up for sale and people taking them off thier cars. I'm looking at a Z06 with one on it is there anything I should worry about?

You will get more responses in the FI section, but I will take a stab at it here for you anyways

There is nothing wrong with a properly installed Mag if you do not want more than 500 or so rwhp. They provide GREAT low end torque and are dead nuts reliable. They do suffer more from heat soaking than the CF blowers (ATI, Vortech), nothing that a little alky would not fix

As far as what to look for, look for the same stuff as you would when buying any used Vette. Ask for records on who installed the Mag, tuned it, how long has it been on there, do they have a dyno sheet, etc... Make sure the engine is solid, do a compression check, maybe you can sweet talk (or pay him) a Corvette gear head such as Roadrebel to give it a once over. Good luck on your choice

Maggies are reliable. I just bought a used one. But I will be happy with 500rwhp. Others are not, thats why the go up for sale...

If 500 rwhp is the limit of the maggi on a stock ls1 can't you buil the motor and put the maggi back on and pass the magic 500 hp number?

there are a couple of guys with stock bottom ends and maggies running 520rwhp. A good combination of a cam, headers, smaller pulley, and meth injection will get you there. I'm shooting for right at 500rwhp with a 3.1 pulley, cam, headers. Am at 400rwhp now NA. Meth injection can add 30-40rwhp...

And yes, build a nice 383 fordged stroker, put a maggie on top and you can make more hp. But you are spending alot of $$$ to limit yourself to 550-600rwhp with a maggie, when with a fordged bottom end and a ECS or A&A kit supercharger will get you 700++RWHP...

Call Chris, he can fill you in on why its better or worse. There are two versions, an IN and non IC. For road racing you are going to get thrown into a race car class since vettes get an automatic class bump, plus a Z06 bump, plus a supercharger bump.

I love my Magnacharged 04 Coupe

Like stated the Maggie will run out of breath a little past 525rwhp

I have had my blower on for a year and it has been dead nutz reliable(I have taken 2 1K mile trips with zero issues)

I am currently making 460rwhp 450rwtq with the stock pulley on a conservative custom tune.

My car went 11.80@120 when I was making 440rwhp in so/so weather.
