Default Cat delete question

Hello all,

I don’t post often, usually I can find the answer or someone else answers the question before I have a crack at it.

My cats have been removed; I installed 2 O2 simulators and now get a P0140 code. “HO2S Circuit Insufficient Activity Bank 1 Sensor 2” Here are my questions;

1. Is it a bad simulator?
1.5 What side is Bank 1?
2. Is there some way to make my Predator delete the sensors?

Lift time costs me money so I would like to research the problem before I go back to the shop.

I have a 2003 Z06.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer(s):

1) Maybe, maybe not. You could always try another simulator, but you will probably get the sam result. The computer expects the O2 sensors to heat up a certain way (time and temp range). Sometimes sims just don't work. It could also be that the O2 wire is too close to the header and getting too hot. Is this the only sensor 2 code you are throwing? These usually come in groups.

1.5) Bank 1 is driver's side

2) Don't know. I think I've heard it is possible, but don't quote me on it. I have no idea how this would be done. Instead, I opt'ed to buy HPTuners. It's not much more than the Predator and is a full vcm reader/scanner/editor. If you are up for it, I HIGHLY recommend it!

The sims dont allways work it is easier to just get the car edited and delete the codes.

Yup that is the only code I am throwing. I think I will switch the simulators and try to tuck them further away from the headers. That should quickly tell me if it is the simulator or something else.

Another bit of information, if it helps. It usually takes about 5 to 10 miles for it to throw the code. I figure that is due to; it takes that long for the simulator to heat up, the computer is waiting for a sufficient number of readings before the code is thrown, or the computer disregards the O2s until the cat has sufficient time to heat up.

If you are running long tubes make sure the upstream o2 is tight and that there are no header leaks as this will cause the o2 to not get hot enough.
