I have a question, more like a kick in my a$$ I have a cam that was wrapped and stored in my garage. I took it out and noticed some light rust and mild pitting on the lobes. Is this still usable or a lesson that will stick for a lifetime
if the bearing surfaces are ok,, being it is a ls1 cam??? you might be ok for roller lifters. My choice would be new....But I have seen some last friggin forever with some pitting on the lobe surface.
Sorta what I thought, gonna send itout to get polished at a machine shop recommended by some vette guys here. If no go...then new. and be smarter next time with my parts.
I bought a used cam off of a member and when he put it in the box to ship it the sweat off his hands went on the cam. When I got it there was rust all over it.I had it pro polished.
