Default Beat the Heat ?

Living in a desert is seriously killing the potential of the vette. Therefore a cooling system upgrade is mandatory. I was initially toying with the idea but seeing the temps we are seeing now(as high as 122*) I see it is a must.

Here are my quesitions, help please :

1- Hi Po Rad ( Ron Davis or Dewiits ) ?
2- High Flow Pump ( Evans ) Any experiences ? Proved to work ? Also what about Evans NPG+ product ?
3- 180 * Thermo vs 160 * ?
4- Silicone Hoses ? Good or just for show ? Will they help ?
5- Ceramic Coating Exhaust system vs. Exhaust Wrap ? ( Car will have a full header system KOOKS )
6- Installing additional fan(s) push type in front of rad ? Has anyone done this ?
7- Upgrade existing fans ? Spal units maybe ?

Thanks in advance

First off make sure your radiator is clear up front. It is very common for these cars to suck up all kinds of stuff and block the radiator.

I think this is your best option, the better you can get rid of the heat the cooler it will run. I just installed a DeWitt radiator last night. I'm impressed with the look of this thing, it is huge compared to the stock unit. I think it will add about a gallon of coolant to the system. Check out this thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...862&forum_id=1 for info on DeWitt's unit. He has just got a new model with a built in engine oil cooler. You can see a photo of my install next to the last post in the thread.

With a good radiator probably not needed. You can flow water too fast through a engine. If it goes through too fast there is not enough time for the heat to transfer from the engine to the water.

Definitely go lower than stock! Probably little difference between 180 and 160 in your heat. You won't run at 160 in your heat! The 160 will just start flowing a little sooner. Don't forget to lower the fan cut on temp too, or your lower stat will not do any good in stop and go traffic.

Don't think they will make it cooler, but they will make it pretty!

Won't help much to keep the engine cool but it may help keep you cool in the car.

With a good radiator I think the factory fans should keep you cool. Bigger fans shouldn't hurt any though.
