Default Major Differences between 1 3/4 and 1 7/8 LT Headers

I'm getting ready to order some lg lt headers. I was wondering what would be the best application for my use. Is going bigger with 1 7/8 the best idea so that I'm not limited (bigger is always better). My future mods are going to be somewhere along the lines of h/c, procharger, and stroked. Right now I'm bone stock but don't want to overlap when I go to putting bigger power to the ground (getting the smaller ones). Any opinions would be great. Thanks, Josh

Well if you do go Forced Induction and Stroked the Larger diameter is for you.

Stock cubes N/A you want the 1-3/4, but if you are going F/I or bigger cubes you will want the 1-7/8.

Bigger is not always better. Our Pro Long Tube setup works great on both NA and FI cars. We like them so much we even use them on our own W.C. C6 race car right out of the box. As far as big motors, we have used them on 427 cars both NA and F.I. with no problems making power. If memory serves correctly we built a 03 Z06 with a 427 and a D1 procharger running only 6psi, and it easily produced 680+ rwhp.

Lgs start at 1 7/8 and go to 1 3/4 I think. Dynatechs are 1 3/4. A buddy of mine just had a forged 402 with afr heads and G5x-3 cam installed. Afterwards the tuner installed LGs in place of his Dynatechs and redynoed. He gained 12 rwhp with the Lgs.

Default Top end or torque...

For a street machine-even with big cubes, go with 1 3/4", for top end power-go larger!

I personally would like to see someone make 1 7/8" with 36" primaries!

Should be best of both worlds!

Torque vs Horsepower!

May the BOOST be with you!
