My 2000 MN6 has a pulsing on braking. When I removed the front calipers (to paint), I found that one of the bolts that they "ride" on (to properly align as the pad wears) was frozen in the caliper bracket. I replaced the bracket and pin, but I wonder if the pad and rotor have already worn improperly.
I think I understand the issue, but I am wondering what to replace. Should I just replace the pad, or the rotor as well? Not even sure if that is the side that causes the pulsing.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I have somewhat stretched myself to buy this car, and I have a limited budget for replacement parts, especially if the parts aren't really BROKEN! But, I want my car to be perfect at the same time!
that pulsating brake feeling may be the result of several things:
1. lossen and retorque the lug nuts to 100 ft lbs in a star pattern, not next to each other
2. a brake bolt holding on the caliper or caliper braket may be loose.
3. improper bedding of brake pads or rotors.
4. old brake pads, if a brake pad has less then 50% thickness remaining change it.
5. inspect other suppension bolts.
