the beauty of the LS7 isn't reflective in the price, although IMHO it is a great value. The benefit of dropping an LS7 into a C5 is obvious to a California owner, that being it is a legal mod. Thus, money be damned it will be a popular swap.
On both the LS1tech.com and this forum. There are about 15 major/minor things that would have to be done. Final cost is going to well into mid twenty's to thirty if it "CAN," be done. There are some very major engineering hurdles
TXNC5- Hey!!!
Do you think we'll be able to get the complete LS7 heads and intake in the near future - 12 months?? They would work nicely on a C5R block.

12 months? Yeah, probably. We won't know much until early next year, so we're probably 6 months away from really knowing. Too bad you're not in Texas. I haven't checked the production of actual Z06's. My guess is 6,000. It is also unclear how many engines will be built next year. There are some interesting politics going on a GM.
C5R, eh? You'll need a bigger cam. SDPC has a new "Super Stick" cam: SS250 250/258 @ .050 .580/.580 lift on a 108. Probably want more lift with the LS7 heads.
