Haven't heard of anyone doing this yet, but give them time. I would imagine that the engine will be available soon.

I think there are some things that you would have to modify for the dry sump on the ls7. I don't know all of the details though.

That will be one expensive C5. If I remember correctly, the LS7 crate motor is going to be around $15,000.

So.... $12,900 + $20,000 ( slight older '97-'99) = $32,900 for a bad a$$ Vette

There are many potential issues beginning with very limited availability. It appears that not many LS7 crate motors will be produced. If you’re not already on the list for one, it might be quite some time before you’ll be able to purchase one.

If you are lucky enough to get your hands on one there are many potential install issues; dry sump, accessories, computer, wiring harness, sensors, oil pan, etc, etc, etc. To the best of my knowledge no one has received or installed an LS7 crate motor yet.

You’re probably way better off to purchase a big (434-447) stroker motor from one of the vendors. When all is said and done the prices will probably be comparable and the strokers will make a lot more power than the as delivered LS7 crate motor.

Go with a 427 LPE - cheaper in the longer run, and comes with a warranty (2 year, 24k miles).

Won't get that with the LS6.

Also, installation of the LS6 may be a problem (dry sump and all that).

Last - the LPE 427 will blow the doors off a LS6. LPE: 600+ SAE, LS6: 505 SAE. Just do the numbers.

There are about 15 major reasons why it will not work easily. You will be well over 30k by the time you are done, assuming it can be engineered. This is with a big assumption that the engineering can be done.

FYI, there will only be 150 LS7 crate engines available this year. They are probably all spoken for, and I wouldn't doubt if some people sell theirs for more than the $12,995 that has been listed (sdpc2000.com). They won't come with a wiring harness or the PCM. You could buy a PCM, but the wiring harness is another story. As others have said, that is just the beginning.

Hi All,

We have one coming in the last quarter of 05. It is currently NOT spoken for. Anyone with a 5,000 deposit gets it first!

Our price is 12,595.

TXNC5- Hey!!!
Do you think we'll be able to get the complete LS7 heads and intake in the near future - 12 months?? They would work nicely on a C5R block.

Plus another $3,000 for the dry sump oiling system is the price I heard last.

I think that I can make a stroker 402 LS-2 with AFR 225 heads and a decent cam like a 234/238 @ 589/595 @ 113 LSA with a fast 90 and a NW TB at least as fast as the LS_7 for a bit less money.

How about adding a blower to the LS1 motor. Wouldn't this bring it to 500plus HP for about $6 grand?
